Victor Frankenstein is heading back to the big screen, since 20th Century Fox is producing a new take on Mary Shelley’s story. This time, James McAvoy is the title character, while Daniel Radcliffe stars as Igor.

The first photos from the set were published by Empire Magazine. One shows Radcliffe and McAvoy sitting in a medical theater, as there are spectators behind them. in the second photo, McAvoy is wearing some heavy, protective outfit as he works on his dangerous creation. Clearly, this film is keeping the novel’s Gothic tone.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the film is being directed by Paul McGuigan (Sherlock) and was written by Max Landis (Chronicle).

Radcliffe officially joined the film in March 2013. Fox said in the past that it is told through Igor’s perspective, which is a unique idea, since Igor wasn’t even mentioned in Shelley’s novel.

Victor Frankenstein hits theaters on Oct. 2.
