Authorities said that five people were found shot to death in a Phoenix home on Thursday evening and the motive may have been over a family dispute.
The Associated Press noted that police have not released the names of the victims but said that three adult male siblings were killed, along with two females. One of the women is believed to be the mother of the brothers and the other woman is thought to be a spouse of one.
Two women and children were able to escape the home unharmed and told police that the dispute was over the family business.
"Our dispatcher could hear shots fired in the background while that call was coming in," said Sgt. Trent Crump. "A caller had been able to escape the home at that point, get out and start to give us information."
SWAT officers surrounded the home before they located the deceased inside and tried to make contact with the family on megaphone in Arabic.
The Arizona Republic reported that after officers made the grim discovery, they spoke to neighbors about what they thought may have occurred. Some neighbors said that they believed the family did own a transportation business, while others said they had never spoken to them and that the family was “invisible” until Thursday.
