Universal’s Furious 7 is running on much more than gas. The film is moving like a rocket-propelled ship at the box office and could easily pass $115 million in three days.

The film got off to an incredible start Thursday night, grossing $15.8 million from early screenings. And even though Friday was still a work day, audiences came out in droves. Variety estimates that the film made as much as $60 million on Friday alone.

That’s causing box office analysts to rethink just how big the movie will be. Initially, estimates pegged an opening around $115 million, but it’s looking like it will make much more. Furious 7 could reach as much as $138 million this weekend.

Even if it finishes on the low-end of expectations (which seems highly unlikely at this point), it will still smash the April weekend record. Last year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier set the record with $95 million.

Furious 7 has also scored at the international box office, grossing $60 million during the week. It doesn’t even open in China and Russia this weekend.

The new film is the seventh in Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise. It is the last to feature the late Paul Walker and also stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.
