Furious 7 has dominated the box office this weekend. The action, adrenaline film has made over $143.6 million during its opening weekend.

The LA Times reported that if the early estimates hold for Furious 7, it will be a record debut for the Fast franchise, which to date, has already made over $2 billion worldwide. This is not the record record the film will hold, it will also become the ninth-biggest debut ever at the box office and is the highest grossing film to be released in April.

The previous April record was held by Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was released last year and brought in $95 million during its debut weekend.

Furious 7 was released across 4,004 theaters in North America including IMAX screenings.

This marks the final film for Fast star Paul Walker and also stars Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Michelle Rodriguez, The Post added.

Coming in second place at the box office will be DreamWorks Animation's Home. The animated feature which features the voices of Rihanna and Jim Parsons, dropped 47% from its debut weekend. It added $27.4 to its total. The third place spot went to Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell's comedy Get Hard which added an additional $12.9 million to its growing total.
