Thanks to the seventh film in the Fast & Furious franchise, Universal Pictures International has already reached $1 billion at the foreign box office. Furious 7 alone is nearing $500 million worldwide.

Outside of North America, Furious 7 is already at $316 million after just one week, notes Forbes. At home, the film has already grossed $174.5 million. That puts it at $490.5 million in total, according to Box Office Mojo stats.

Universal has also done well internationally thanks to Fifty Shades of Grey. While the film mostly disappeared after its huge Valentine’s Day weekend opening in North America, it stuck around overseas. Fifty Shades ended up with $401.2 million overseas.

The Theory of Everything, which won Eddie Redmayne an Oscar for playing Stephen Hawking, also did well internationally, grossing $85 million.

Furious 7 is widely expected to win the box office again this weekend. Its only major new competition is Fox 2000’s The Longest Ride.

Furious 7 hasn’t even hit theaters in China. If it does well there, there is nothing stopping the movie from hitting $1 billion.
