Furious 7 has been doing unbelievably well at the box office, and the movie has just broken another record: it is now the fifth highest grossing film of all time.
Last week we reported that Furious 7 had crossed $1 billion and could soon enter the top five highest grossing films. According to Box Office Mojo, the film has hit $1.3 billion worldwide, officially winning it the number five spot and unseating Disney's Frozen.
The film took home $18.3 million domestically this past weekend, once again holding its spot as number one at the box office. It has been number one all month since its release on April 3rd, though that will end next weekend with the premiere of Age of Ultron.
That puts it past the previous number five, Frozen, which made $1.2 billion worldwide. Considering Frozen arguably has a much wider appeal than Furious 7, that's pretty impressive.
Furious 7 is now only the third film to ever hit $1 billion internationally, grossing a little over $1 billion in the foreign markets alone. Domestically, the film has grossed $320 million. The movie has also unseated Transformers: Age of Extinction for the spot of highest grossing film in China.
We previously reported that the movie is now Universal's most successful ever, beating out Jurassic Park. The franchise has made Universal roughly $3.7 billion overall over seven films. With the eighth film in the franchise getting a release date this week, that probably won't be stopping anytime soon.
