Even though it doesn’t have a director and only got a writer this week, Universal is still teasing the “first look” of Jamie Dornan in Fifty Shades Darker. It’s part of the studio’s promotion for the Fifty Shades of Grey Blu-ray.
The image, which was posted by Access Hollywood shows Dornan as Christian Grey, donning a masquerade ball mask and looking at himself in a mirror. It is part of a preview teaser that will appear on the home video release of Fifty Shades, which hits stores on May 8 and also includes an unrated cut of the movie.
Considering that the movie is still without a director, it seems highly unlikely that there has actually been any work on Darker involving Dornan. It was only on Wednesday that we learned that Fifty Shades novelist E.L. James’ husband, Niall Leonard, will write the film.
On Thursday during CinemaCon, Universal announced that Darker will hit theaters on Feb. 10, 2017. Fifty Shades Freed hits theaters on Feb. 9, 2018. So we better savor Valentine’s Day 2016, since it’s the last one without a “mommy porn” movie for awhile.
Dakota Johnson is also expected to return to play Anastasia Steele.
