It's weird how little people talk about upcoming Avatar movies, especially since it's the highest grossing film of all-time. Writer/director James Cameron at least remains eager for the blooming series. He already announced plans for three sequels to his 2009 film, and that may not be the end. Composer James Horner revealed Cameron put together a fourth new screenplay for a potential fifth feature.

Speaking with Hey U Guys for the upcoming Titanic Live tour, which kicked off with a sold-out event at Royal Albert Hall, Horner and producer Jon Landau let some details slip on the franchise. Although the initial plans were, as stated above, to have three new films, Cameron apparently has four new screenplays and the question remains now whether to condense or go forward with four new movies.

Here is Horner's quote:

"He’s got four sequels script-wise, and he's trying to make it into three. And I think that’s where the effort is going right now […] how do you keep it from expanding into a fifth movie?"

The last heard on these new Avatar movies was the second is now set to come out in 2017. This is after it was supposed to come out in December 2016, which was announced back in 2013. The plan for the moment is to shoot all the new movies at once, and that may now be four new movies instead of three.

Cameron quoted on the matter back in January by saying, "There’s a layer of complexity in getting the story to work as a saga across three films that you don’t get when you’re making a stand-alone film. We’re writing three simultaneously. And we’ve done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films. We’re not just going to do one and then make up another one and another one after that."

Of course, it's hard to imagine Zoe Saldana on board for this many movies, now that she has her Marvel commitments. Whether happens, Cameron is apparently very involved, and he wants the world to have as much Avatar as they may or may not please.
