New York Knicks owner James Dolan knows his team is bad and doesn't blame fans for showing their dissapointment.
The Knicks are currently finishing up the worst season in franchise history. The team has lost a franchise record 63 games this year and sit at the very bottom of the Eastern Conference. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dolan revealed that he wasn't upset when Knicks fans were seen wearing paper bags over their heads earlier in the season. Dolan added that most fans understand the process the team is going through.
"The Knicks fans, by the way, have been great this year," he said. The majority of them understand we're in a rebuild, we're moving as fast as we can, and they see our opportunities as being huge. I think they are, but it's all in Phil's hands."
First-year Knicks president Phil Jackson has already promised fans that better days are ahead as the team looks to the future. The team has already made moves by reaching a buyout with Amar'e Stoudemire and trading key players in Tyson Chandler, J.R. Smith, and Iman Shumpert. The Knicks also shut down star Carmelo Anthony after the All-Star break.
Dolan went on to say that fans shouldn't be ready to give up on Jackson and try to believe in what the Knicks are doing. With the NBA regular season coming to a close, Knicks fans will soon be able to put this disastrous chapter behind them.
