Mariah Carey is currently centered around an untitled Christmas project for Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema, with RatPac Entertainment's Brett Ratner also attached, according to Deadline.
Carey brought the pitch herself to RatPac, which took it to New Line. She is set to star in the film, which is keeping specific plot details under wraps but is said to be centered around the power of music to transport you back in time to discover your true dreams. The film will feature music by Carey and other artists.
The writers on the film are David Diamond and David Weissman, who previously wrote another Brett Ratner holiday pic, 2000's The Family Man, starring Nicolas Cage. They're also set to pen Last Vegas 2, the sequel to the 2013 senior citizen-skewing comedy from CBS Films.
Carey is certainly a perennial staple around Christmastime -- her 1994 hit "All I Want for Christmas is You" has sold 14 million copies around the world. Could a second go-round for a Carey-Christmas combination have the same impact?
Carey's acting resume includes 2009's "Precious" and 2013's "Lee Daniels' The Butler."
