Since the country still can’t get “Uptown Funk” out of its head, Mark Ronson’s single is still leading the Billboard Hot 100. It is now up to 13 weeks at the front of the chart, making it the longest-leading single of the decade.
Billboard announced this week that “Uptown Funk,” which features vocals from Bruno Mars, has lead the chart for the longest period since 2010. It passed Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” which notched 12 weeks. Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” and Rihanna’s “We Found Love” lead the chart for 10 weeks each.
“Uptown Funk” has been leading the chart since Jan. 17. The track is featured on Ronson’s Uptown Special, which was released in January.
The song joins just a handful of singles that have lead the Hot 100 - which is based on radio play, sales and streams - for 13 weeks or more since Billboard established the chart in 1958. “Uptown Funk” is just three weeks away from tying Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s 1995 single “One Sweet Day,” which holds the record for weeks leading the Hot 100 with 16.
