A man in Nepal was found alive and pulled from under the rubble after being trapped for around 80 hours.
CNN reported that Rishi Khanal, 28, was found on Tuesday by rescue workers from France. After he was discovered, the team had to drill through concrete to get to him. That process took about 10 hours before Khanal was finally freed.
He became trapped after a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook an area near Katmandu on Saturday. Another quake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale then followed as well as several aftershocks.
The earthquake was also felt in neighboring India and Bangladesh and it triggered an avalanche at Mount Everest which killed 18 climbers who had set up camp there.
The Associated Press noted that while the death toll from the devastating quake has now topped 5,000, there are others stories of rescuers finding people alive under the debris. Therefore, workers are continuing to sift through the rubble for anyone that may still be trapped.
