A New York woman will be allowed to deliver divorce papers to her estranged husband over Facebook, since that is the only way she has been able to communicate with him for years.

The New York Daily News reports that Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper has given nurse Ellanora Baidoo the greenlight to send her husband Victor Sena Blood-Dzraku divorce papers using the social network.

Cooper said that Baidoo’s attorney can send Blood-Dzraku a Facebook private message once a week over three weeks, unless Blood-Dzraku finally responds.

Baidoo’s attorney Andrew Spinnell said that the couple married in 2009 in a civil ceremony, reports the Associated Press. However, Baidoo also wanted a traditional Ghanaian wedding, since both of them are from Ghana. The relationship went south at that point and the couple never lived together.

They only stayed in contact over Facebook and Blood-Dzraku never gave Baidoo a recent address. Therefore, she could not physically mail the divorce papers and the Department of Motor Vehicles did not have a record for him.

“We tried everything, including hiring a private detective — and nothing,” Spinnell said.

They already sent one Facebook message and he still hasn’t responded.
