The Nigerian army said on Tuesday that it has rescued 200 girls and 93 woman from Boko Haram camps.

The military made the announcement on Twitter, but added that it cannot confirm at this time if those rescued were part of the hundreds abducted from a school in Chibok last year.

USA Today noted that despite that official announcement, the news has not been verified as the government said before that the girls would be released and that turned out to be false.

The Islamic extremist group Boko Haram garnered national headlines last April when the group claimed responsibility for kidnapping 300 girls from a government secondary school.

As previously reported, a social media movement with the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls was started and Nigerian’s new President Muhammadu Buhari vowed to do everything in his power to try and find them.

The army said the victims were rescued from the Sambisa Forest where Boko Haram is believed have camps and operate out of.
