A community college where a fatal shooting took place days ago had to cancel classes and close on Friday morning after school officials received threatening phone calls.

WRAL noted that Wayne Community College President Dr. Kay Albertson said that the college had received a flurry of threatening phone calls over the last two days. However, the identity of the caller is now known to the authorities.

She added that students were never in any danger but after a high school located on the campus closed, the college decided to do the same so students would not be confused.

"In order to alleviate confusions among college students and our employees, it was decided the WCC college classes would also be canceled," Albertson said. "The college was never in any danger today. We acted purely from a precautionary perspective."

As previously reported, on Monday, a gunman walked into the college and fatally shot print shop supervisor Ron Lane.

Former wielding work-study student Kenneth Morgan Stancil III was later arrested and confessed to the murder. Stancil said that he is a neo-Nazi and hates homosexuals. Lane was gay and fired Stancil last month.

Weekend classes have also been canceled.
