Real Housewives of Atlanta
From Zen to Sin
This episode is promised to be a game changer as Kenya Moore and Phaedra Parks are sitting down to have a conversation, something any viewer of this show never expected to happen.
This episode kicks off with Cynthia, Claudia and Kenya. They are expected to depart for the next stop on their vacation, Manila, in 30 minutes. However, though Cynthia and Claudia are ready to go Kenya is still swimming in the pool.
All the ladies are congregating in the lobby to head off to their next spot. After checking in for their first night we flash over to lone soldier, Nene, who is in New York rehearsing for Cinderella. She is trying on her dresses for the performances. They give her a mere 3 minutes before heading back over to the entertaining portion of the show, the ladies in the Philippines.
They are heading off to tour a Volcano. On the bus they mention Demetria. To be honest, it seemed as though she wasn’t even on this trip. Beyond easy to forget. Maybe this is why she wasn’t invited to the reunion taping this season?
Kandi brings up the fact that everyone is having a lot of fun and it’s what she’s been trying to get everyone to do all along. Then in an interview segment it shows Cynthia saying, “who’s missing?” The ladies are obviously thankful Nene isn’t on the trip causing drama. Without her they are actually enjoying themselves.
After a commercial break the ladies are riding horses to the top of a mountain so they can see the volcano. Seeing these women ride horses is actually hilarious. Porsha comments that both her weave and the horses weave match. They finally reach the top of Taal Volcano and enjoy their time up there before riding the mini horses back down. Phaedra talks to the tour guide and finds out that her husband has passed away, leaving her alone with 5 kids. Phaedra gives her a monetary donation which was very nice of her. It’s nice when the ladies are charitable and generous.
Phaedra calls her pastor for advice on a conversation with Kenya. Enough said about that one.
Now the ladies are going to have a slumber party. They kick it of by ordering nearly one of everything off the room service menu. While they are kicking of their nightly festivities, Phaedra and Kenya meet up to have their one on one. This is honestly kind of awkward to watch. Who would have ever thought that these two would be sitting down for a conversation much less a conversation trying to amend their prolonged situation? Kenya tells Phaedra she wants her to say anything she felt she’s never been able to say. Phaedra is noticeably struggling. Phaedra says she wants to drop everything and hopes that their talk is “the new door.”
We flash back to the slumber party where the ladies are mocking how they think the conversation between Kenya and Phaedra is going. It’s hilariously accurate.
Kenya is telling Phaedra her biggest problem with her is that she called her a whore so many times. Phaedra says what we thought we would never hear her say, “I sincerely apologize to you.” Phaedra even invites Kenya to go to church with her on Sunday. It’s crazy to see these two women making amends and accepting each other. They end up praying together to finalize their forgiving each other.
The ladies are playing never I have I ever before Kenya and Phaedra return to the group. Cynthia admits she even swam in the lady pond during her old modeling days in Europe. Who would’ve thought?
They want to make a toast in honor of Kenya and Phaedra forgiving each other but unfortunately they have already drank all the alcohol. Funny. We’re off to another break before the ladies decide to discuss Nene.
Kenya tells everyone at the final lunch that she’s talked to Nene about the trip and how if Nene could have joined that she would have “fallen in line” with the rest of the ladies, meaning she would have shared the in the sprint of forgiveness, etc. The ladies all blatantly disagree that they don’t think that would have been the case.
Next week’s preview shoes Claudia and Nene getting into an argument at an event that seems to be thrown by Phaedra. Looks like the zen of the Philippines didn’t last too long!
Check back next week for another recap!
