Ryan Gosling and Guillermo Del Toro showed off their close relationship at South By Southwest last month. Now, that’s extending into their work as the two are reportedly working together on Disney’s new Haunted Mansion project.
This news was just reported by TheWrap. Disney had announced at the 2010 Comic-Con that it was planning a new Haunted Mansion movie with D.V. Devincentis (High Fidelity) writing, but nothing came of it until now.
Gosling is actually a member of the Disney extended family. He was a Mousketeer during the early ‘90s and had a supporting part in Remember the Titans.
Del Toro and Gosling appeared at SXSW in Austin last month, with Del Toro grilling Gosling about the making of Lost River. The film, which marks Gosling’s directing debut, hits theaters this weekend in select cities and is also available on VOD. It stars Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith.
Gosling will next be seen in front of the screen in Shane Black’s The Nice Guys and did complete work on a Terrence Malick film.
As for Del Toro, his Crimson Peak hits theaters on Oct. 16.
Disney already made a movie based on the Haunted Mansion ride in 2003 with Eddie Murphy.
