Fans of Sam Smith will not be able to see him perform in Australia. The "Stay With Me" singer had to cancel his upcoming tour dates in Australia due to his vocal chords being exhausted.
People reported that Smith took to his Instagram account to break the news. He posted that, "I am deeply, deeply, saddened. I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal chords."
Doctors instructed Smith to rest to avoid further long term damage.
The "Lay Me Down" singer was set to play Brisbane on Saturday. After that performance he would have gone to Sydney on Monday. The singer had a second show scheduled for Sydney on Tuesday. During his post on Instagram, Smith did say that they would be rescheduling the shows and would release the new dates soon.
Billboard reported that Smith's debut album recently reached No. 1 on the Australian charts.
