Sony is planning two new Ghostbusters films, one female-led and one male-led, and now the studio apparently plans to use that same strategy with 21 Jump Street.

A new rumor from The Tracking-Board says that Sony is planning a female 21 Jump Street spinoff. The film would be written by Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs. The two also co-produce the show.

No word on what the plot of the movie would be, but Slashfilm pointed out that the original 21 Jump Street features another undercover team played by Dakota Johnson and Rye Rye. With Johnson recently becoming a much bigger name with 50 Shades of Grey, focusing on that team would make a lot of sense.

This is yet another piece of news regarding the 21 Jump Street franchise. 23 Jump Street is currently in the works, and it will apparently make all those fake sequels from the last movie canon, as we previously reported. There's also been talks of a crossover with Men in Black, which was revealed during the Sony email hacking scandal but could actually still happen, according to Slashfilm.

With two versions of Ghostbusters in the works, the main, female-led one and one starring Channing Tatum, doubling down on one franchise and giving it spinoffs separated by gender seems to be Sony's new thing.
