Taylor Swift fans around the world rushed to Twitter on Thursday to sent their well-wishes and comfort the singer after she revealed that her mother, Andrea, was diagnosed with cancer.

As previously reported, Swift revealed the sad news with a Tumblr post. She declined to give any further details, but she hopes that her mother’s diagnosis will urge other people to get themselves checked early for any life-threatening illness.

“She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they’ve got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle,” Swift wrote to her fans. “Or peace of mind in knowing that they’re healthy and there’s nothing to worry about. She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour.”

After the post, Swift fans got the hashtag #PrayForMamaSwift trending on Twitter all of Thursday. Even fans of other artists, like One Direction and Lady Gaga, began posting messages to Swift.

Swift hasn’t responded to the messages, but we’re sure the social media addict has heard them.
