Back in the 90s the boy band rivalry was intense. You were either a Backstreet Boys or NSYNC fan, liking both wasn't an option and it turns out that the management behind both bands was the reason for the rivalry.
Entertainment Weekly obtained a clip fro the upcoming documentary Show Em' What You’re Made Of that explains how the now classic musical rivalry began.
Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys explained that it was Pearlman who was behind NSYNC, Contact Music reported. "Around 1995 I came off the road and Lou said, 'Come here, I want to show you something,'" Richardson explained. "He showed be a VHS tape of this group."
Lou Pearlman, early mentor and manager for The Backstreet Boys, was actually behind the formation of NSYNC. At the time, The Backstreet Boys thought they were one of the only boy bands on the market but they quickly discovered that every event they were unable to attend or concert they couldn't perform, NSYNC was picking up the pieces. What Pearlman did by working with NSYNC felt like a betrayal to the band.
Show Em' What You're Made Of was released in theaters back in January and will be airing on VH1's Rock Docs series on April 3rd at 9 p.m.
