The Fooo Conspiracy consists of four teenagers who came together through a love of music and dance. They look like One Direction but have a musical vibe that is upbeat, pop-infused and feels more modern than current boy bands on the charts. The group gained a following online and became a huge success through YouTube and social media, now they have released their own EP and will be touring the United States.
Omar, Oscar, Felix and O.G, make up the band and each members brings a unique set of skills to the group but they find their stride working together and harmonizing vocally.
Coordinates opens with "Wild Heart" and this single sets the tone for the band. The Fooo Conspiracy has an upbeat pop sound and that sound frames their catchy lyrics which drives the EP forward. At first listen, this feels like a very similar effort to that of One Direction or The Wanted but The Fooo are bringing in new elements to their sound. It feels like influences such as, EDM and modern dance tracks have been brought into this EP and that helps to take this sound from just pop to a more complex and interesting sound. "Wild Heart" feels like a Walk The Moon working with One Direction and that combination works. Conspiracy really taps into what they feel comfortable with, which is pop and takes a pop sound to a new level.
The EP transitions into "Doo-Wop" which has a bass line that is infectious. The band keeps the energy light and upbeat on this single but also shows off how they aren't just a pop band, they want to bring in outside influences that really create a different sound. This is their chance to set themselves apart in the industry and make their own musical imprint.
Coordinates closes out with "My Beyonce" and "Ballin." "My Beyonce" showcases how Fooo really wants to connect with a younger generation and does so with their lyrics in this song. "Ballin'" is just a continuation of the musical sound that was presented early on in the EP. This is overall, a strong musical debut for the band and will help to launch them onto streaming and radio airwaves.
What is exciting about listening to this EP is that we as fans are joining the band at the start, we are getting in on the ground floor. We have the chance to see how the band will mature, grow and how they will embrace new musical directions as they go further into the industry.
The Fooo Conspiracy will be a band to watch in 2015 on the pop charts.
