Tom Cruise appears to be ready to try some different things. After he wraps up work on Universal’s drama Mena, he might be singing again in Disney’s Bob The Musical.
Back on Wednesday, TheWrap reported that Cruise is “circling” the project. Deadline also mentioned Cruise’s involvement at the bottom of its report about Vince Gilligan’s Jack and the Beanstalk.
Bob The Musical has been in the works for a decade, with LEGO Movie duo Chris Miller and Phil Lord and Rock of Ages’ Adam Shankman considering it at some point. The current director being considered is The Artist’s Michel Hazanavicius.
Allan Loeb worked on the most recent script. Bob is a high-concept musical comedy about a guy who has the ability to hear the songs coming from everyone’s hearts. He is now living a musical.
Cruise will next be seen in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation this summer. After that, he’s taking a different kind of role in Doug Liman’s political thriller Mena, which opens in January 2017.
Cruise did recently test his singing skills in 2012’s Rock of Ages.
