A car accident changes a woman’s life, causing her to never get old in The Age of Adaline. For nearly eighty years, she’s seen all of those around her age, but she remains twenty-nine years old. Often fleeing before anyone finds out about her secret ability, she finally lets her guard down when she meets a young man and is introduced to his family. Blake Lively, Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn star in the PG-13 romantic drama. It plays for one hour and fifty minutes.

After a promise to his wife, a man sets forth to find his three sons that disappeared during World War I in The Water Diviner. His mission takes him to Istanbul where the catastrophic Battle of Gallipoli took place four years earlier. Russell Crowe stars in the one hour and fifty-one minute drama. The film is playing in limited conventional and IMAX theaters. It’s rated R for violence.

A man’s life turns upside down just as his company is about to launch in Adult Beginners. To try to escape his troubles, he moves into his sister’s home in the suburbs and becomes her nanny. The adult coming of age comedy stars Nick Kroll, Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Joel McHale, Josh Charles, Jane Krakowski, Bobby Moynihan and Mike Birbiglia. The limited released film plays for one hour and thirty minutes. It’s rated R for language and drugs.

A thief, with the ability to fabricate famous works of art, is given the opportunity to leave prison early if he steals a famous Monet painting in The Forger. With the help of his father and brother, the man attempts to pull off one of the most difficult robberies. The one hour and thirty-two minute drama stars John Travolta and Christopher Plummer. The limited released film is rated R for language and violence.

A young woman heads back to her hometown following the death of her brother in See You in Valhalla. After four years away, she reconnects with her estranged, eccentric family as they decide the best way to send off her brother. The comedic drama is playing in limited theaters for one hour and thirty minutes. It’s rated R for language, sex and drugs.

A child discovers that if he has faith, he can do extraordinary things in Little Boy. When his father goes away to fight the war, he’ll do whatever he can to bring him back home. The PG-13 comedic drama stars Kevin James, Emily Watson and Michael Rappaport. It plays for one hour and forty-six minutes.

Get a look at the people and issues behind the laughs with the documentary Misery Loves Comedy. Directed by Kevin Pollak, the one hour and thirty-four minute film features interviews and commentary from sixty comedians including Jimmy Fallon, Tom Hanks, Bob Saget, Penn Gillette, Amy Schumer, Jim Gaffigan, Judd Apatow, Lisa Kudrow, Larry David, Chris Hardwick and Jon Favreau. The unrated film is playing in limited theaters.

A man is released from prison so he can track down a murderer targeting skilled martial artists in Kung Fu Killer. When cops begin to question where his loyalty lies, he soon finds himself on the run from the authorities and the killer. The unrated Chinese action film is subtitled in English. It’s running in limited theaters for one hour and forty minutes.

Natural abilities and talents had a major role in this week’s nrew films. Superpowers come into play next week with the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. May 1 is also the debut of a theatrical version Thomas Hardy’s Far From the Madding Crowd.
