Despite being pretty poorly reviewed, Ouija was a pretty big success, and now Universal Studios has officially set a release date for the sequel.

According to Deadline, Universal has set Ouija 2 for October 21, 2016, just about two years after the release of the original film. The sequel will be written by Oculus writers Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard, neither of whom worked on the original movie.

The sequel will once again follow a group of friends who unleash evil into the world after messing around with a Ouija board.

This will be another horror film from Blumhouse Productions, a studio that is absolutely dominating the horror genre lately with micro-budget films like Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister and The Purge. Most of these movies cost the studio under $10 million.

To date, Blumhouse has grossed $1.4 billion at the box office. Between all their low budget films, they have spent a collective $45 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Last year they signed a 10 year first look deal with Universal Pictures, as reported by The Wrap.

The original Ouija cost Blumhouse and Universal only $5 million but grossed $100 million.
