The University of Michigan will be screening American Sniper, despite a protest by students and staff that caused the screening to be cancelled originally. The University reversed their decision late Wednesday night.

The protest, which featured over 300 participants, express that the movie was helping to advance "negative and misleading stereotypes" towards the Muslim community.

When the first cancellation was announced Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh took to Twitter to show his support for the film and expressed that his players would be watching the movie.

The Michigan Daily reported that E. Royster Harper, vice president for student life, confirmed the showing will be taking place at the UMix event as originally planned. He also said that it was a mistake to cancel the Friday night showing of the film.

initial decision to cancel the movie was not consistent with the high value the University of Michigan places on freedom of expression and our respect for the right of students to make their own choices in such matters," Harper explained in his statement. "The movie will be shown at the originally scheduled time and location."
