WE tv has pulled the controversial Sex Box series from its schedule after just five episodes. It’s not because of a protest or anything, but because few people are watching it.
The AMC Networks-owned network initially ordered nine episodes of the series, which is based on a U.K. show. WE tv announced plans to adapt the series in March 2014 and officially greenlit it in August.
In Sex Box, real couples with relationship troubles have sex in a soundproof box and then get some helpful hints from experts about how to help save their relationship.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported that WE tv was pulling the show, the first episode in February only drew 378,000 viewers. After four episodes, the network moved it from primetime to midnight. The most recent episode aired back on March 27.
Variety reports that the network said that Sex Box could make a comeback after the show is “formatted.”
