A woman known as the “mommy blogger” received a prison sentence of 20 years behind bars for poisoning her own son with deadly salts.

The Associated Press reported that Lacey Spears, 27, was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison for the murder of her 5-year-old son Garnett-Paul Spears.

Before she moved to Scottsville, Kentucky, Spears lived in Chestnut Ridge, New York. Prosecutors in White Plains said that while the boy was in a New York hospital, his mother intentionally force-fed him high concentrations of sodium through his stomach tube. They also contended that after that she would take to social media and post things about his illness in order to get attention, which is how she got her nickname.

The News Journal noted that acting Supreme Court Justice Robert Neary did not give her the maximum 25 years the prosecution suggested because he felt she suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy.

“In many respects your crime is unfathomable in its cruelty, it gives rise to many questions I quite frankly don’t have answers for,” Neary told Spears. “This was not a spontaneous or ill-conceived solitary act. It was a serious and orchestrated series of actions that really shock the conscience.”

She shared photos of the child online up until his death in 2014.
