Police in Maine say they have arrested a woman who ran over he sex-offender boyfriend after he allegedly tried to assault her 12-year-old daughter.
HLN noted that police responded to a domestic disturbance in Nobleboro on Tuesday. Arriving officers said they found James Oliver, 48, injured after he had allegedly been hit and run over by a car.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said investigators concluded that Linda Currier, 53, ran him over after he allegedly tried to sexually assault her daughter.
NEWS CENTER reported that a around 11:30 p.m. last Tuesday, Currier walked in on Oliver allegedly trying to assault the girl. The two began to argue inside the residence, then outside where she allegedly got into her vehicle struck and ran him over in the driveway.
Oliver, who is a convicted sex offender, was taken to a nearby hospital for a leg injury.
Authorities said both parties were drinking prior to the incident.
Currier was charged with drunken driving and aggravated assault. She was released on $1,000 bond.
Oliver was charged with attempted gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual touching and violating the sex offender registration act for not updating his address.
The 12-year-old girl was not injured during the alleged attempted assault.
