The first trailer for ABC’s The Muppets series promises to bring back Jim Henson’s beloved characters with a new edge. Kermit The Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great and Miss Piggy are all back, but are a bit different.

The trailer follows through with what we had previously heard about the show. Last month, it was reported that it would be “more adult” but ABC still hopes it will bring families together. It was written by Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory) and Rob Krushell (Anger Management).

The Muppets will be filmed documentary-style and is about the gang putting together a new show for ABC. While most of them are onboard, Miss Piggy remains unconvinced. Kermit and Gonzo have to get Miss Piggy interested in doing the show. Meanwhile, we discover that Fozzie is in love with a human woman, which causes concerns with her parents.

While Henson created the Muppets over five decades ago, no project has really gone into their private lives like this before (beyond the Kermit/Piggy love story). So it is certainly something new. But at least it brings these characters back to where they belong - on television.

ABC has scheduled the show for a Fall 2015 launch. It will air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m., before the second season of Fresh Off The Boat.
