A least two people were killed and dozens more were injured after tornadoes roared through parts of Arkansas and North Texas on Sunday.

CNN noted that Howard County Emergency Management coordinator Sonny Raulerson said two people in Nashville, Arkansas, who lived in adjoining mobile homes, were killed after twisters were reported in the area.

In addition to the deceased, more than two dozen people in neighboring Texas were hospitalized.

As previously reported, severe weather had been plaguing the South and southern Plains since last week with storms and several tornadoes sweeping through Oklahoma, Nebraska and Kansas. A woman in Oklahoma was killed in those storms when she became trapped in her storm cellar and drowned.

Emergency responders were on the ground in Texas and Arkansas sifting through the wreckage and surveying the damage left behind after Sunday’s storms.

"Damages range from completely destroyed homes, damaged homes, to trees and power lines down," said Fire Marshall Chuck Allen. "The initial response of emergency responders was to locate and identify any injured individuals."
