Captain Kirk, meet an Amazon Princess. Chris Pine is reportedly in talks to join DC Comics and Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman as Gal Gadot’s love interest.
Pine would play Steve Trevor, a U.S. Army officer whose plane crashes on Paradise Island during World War II. The island is home to the Amazons. Once there, he falls in love Diana, who becomes Wonder Woman when she leaves.
The casting was first reported by Variety. The Hollywood Reporter also reported that the Star Trek star is in talks for the part. However, DC and Warner Bros. have not commented on the report.
Wonder Woman will be directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster), who replaced Michelle MacLaren just days after MacLaren left.
Outside of Star Trek, Pine has recently starred in Z For Zachariah, Horrible Bosses 2 and Disney’s Into The Woods. His next film is The Finest Hours with Eric Bana and he will also play Kirk again in Star Trek 3.
Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 23, 2017. However, Gadot will be seen with a magic lasso first in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opens on March 25.
