Chris Squire, who is known as a founding member of the English rock band Yes, was diagnosed with cancer and will be going through treatment instead of joining the band for their North American Tour.

According to Loudwire, this will be the first time the 67-year-old, who is the only remaining original member, won’t be performing with the band. He was diagnosed with Acute Erythroid Leukemia, which is another form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia that is not very common.

In a statement, Squire said, “the other guys and myself have agreed that Billy Sherwood will do an excellent job of covering my parts and the show as a whole will deliver the same Yes experience that our fans have come to expect over the years.”

USA Today reported the band’s North American tour will begin in August and they will be touring with Toto. Sherwood began as a touring member in 1994 and played both keyboards and guitar. He became a full-on member of the band between 1997 and 2000.

Squire will receive treatment in his hometown of Phoenix, AZ.
