Authorities said that an FBI agent was shot during a struggle with a man who abducted a nine-year-old girl in Texas.
The Associated Press reported that the agent was hit by gunfire during a fight with the abductor at the Days Inn in Bossier City, Louisiana on Tuesday afternoon. However, the wound is not life-threatening and he is expected to recover.
The FBI confirmed the shooting, but did not say if the suspect was the person who shot the agent or if he even possessed and fired a weapon.
"They encountered the suspect and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, an FBI agent was shot," a brief statement from the agency read.
WFAA noted that the incident occurred as the search for Caitlyn Williams came to an end when law enforcement received tips that led them to the young girl and 24-year-old Jessie Williams. The suspect, who is reportedly the child’s uncle, was also hit by gunfire and killed. The child was not hurt.
