Adam Sandler might have sung a song to say goodbye to David Letterman, but George Clooney brought a pair of handcuffs so he would never have to say goodbye.

Clooney was the latest celebrity to go on the “Farewell David Letterman” tour with an appearance on Late Show Thursday night. Sure, he could have plugged his new movie Tomorrowland, but the Oscar winner had more important things to do - like make sure that Letterman would never leave.

Letterman tried to get Clooney to talk about his marriage to Amal Alamuddin, but Clooney didn’t want to. “What are you doing?” Clooney asked Letterman, as he told him to bring his hand out. Clooney then cuffed him and threw the key into the audience.

“I need to talk to my lawyer!” Letterman yelled.

Clooney also took a selfie with Letterman and praised Letterman for his post-9/11 show.

Letterman’s final Late Show episode is on May 20. He will be replaced by Stephen Colbert in September.
