A Texas community, trying to recover from the weekend storms that dumped torrential rains in the state, is mourning the death of a homecoming queen killed by the flood waters after prom.
KENS 5 reported that Alyssa Ramirez, a senior, athlete and newly-crowned prom queen at Devine High School was killed by raging flood waters when her car stalled and was swept away.
Before leaving a post-prom party, Ramirez sent out a tweet referencing the heavy downpours in the area.
"The fact that we may be stuck in SA overnight because rain is so sad," her final tweet read.
Ramirez is one of four people killed in the flash floods that came with the holiday weekend storms which devastated parts of Texas and Oklahoma. As previously reported, about 12 people are still unaccounted for.
Friends and family said the teen will be remembered for her vibrant smile.
Her funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday and the school will hold a memorial service for her on Saturday.
