Hootie and the Blowfish reunited last night on The Late Show with David Letterman. It had been 21 years since the group was featured on the late night program.

The band came together for a performance of "Hold My Hand," which was a hit single back in 1994.

The Huffington Post reported that this was all the first song that Hootie played on Letterman. This special reuniting took place as part of Letterman's farewell season. Letterman seemed genuinely excited when he introduced the band.

After the performance concluded, Letterman added that, "It sounded great back in 1994 and it still sounds great today!"

"Hold My Hand" was the lead off single off of the groups 1994 Cracked Rear View. The album was a massive success in the U.S., going platinum 16 times. It was also the fastest selling debut albums of that time, Entertainment Tonight added. The success was due in part to their performance on Letterman which helped to skyrocket them to fame.

The final Letterman eposide will air on May 20th.
