Rapper Iggy Azalea confirmed that her entire Great Escape Tour has been cancelled, months after rumors started that the daunting stadium tour had encountered issues. However, she does plan on still making appearances at summer festivals.
The Australian rapper, who blindsided the music industry when “Fancy” became a hit last summer, announced on Twitter last night that she will not be touring.
“As u may know, the tour is cancelled. I'm so sad and sorry to let my fans down...we'll be back out on the road when the next album is done,” she wrote. “The cancellations don't include Pittsburgh Pride, Ottawa Bluesfest, Québec Summer Festival, or Washington State Fair. Still coming to those!”
JustJared reports that ticketholders also received an email with the news and information on how to get refunds.
Back in March, reports that Azalea, her management and label Def Jam were encountering issues with the tour first surfaced. She was reportedly refusing to promote the tour, although a rep said that there was no conflict between her and management. Still, Def Jam said that the entire tour had to be rescheduled for the fall due to “accommodate for creative team availability and tour productions.”
The tour was supposed to start in San Diego on Sept. 18 and included big stadiums and venues across the country, including the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Miami’s American Airlines Arena.
However, even after the new dates were set, it was clear that there were still some issues. Azalea even lost her opening act, Joe Jonas.
