It took him three movies, but Professor Charles Xavier is finally going bald. James McAvoy got his hair shaved off this week during filming for X-Men: Apocalypse.
Director Bryan Singer, who appears to be OK with spoiling every surprise for the upcoming movie, posted a picture of McAvoy’s newly shaved dome on Instagram Friday. “Xavier reborn (in process),” Singer wrote.
McAvoy, who is playing a younger version of the same character Patrick Stewart played in other X-Men movies, had his full head of hair in both X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past. However, as Singer takes the franchise closer to the time of the first X-Men movie, the characters will have to undergo some changes.
Aside from a bald McAvoy, Apocalypse will have plenty of new faces. Sophie Turner is playing Jean Grey, while newcomer Lana Condor is Jubilee. Kodi Smit-McPhee is starring as a younger Nightcrawler and Olivia Munn will be Psylocke.
Tye Sheridan is Cyclops and Alexandra Shipp is Storm. Oscar Isaac is playing the villain Apocalypse. Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Michael Fassbender are all returning.
Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016. Fox is also releasing “The Rogue Cut” of Days of Future Past on June 14.
