The second trailer for Black Mass hit the web on Friday. Warner Bros. continues to highlight the performance of Johnny Depp as Boston gangster Whitey Bulger, convincing us that the actor has finally decided to be serious about small-scale dramas again.
Like last month’s trailer, the new one also focuses mostly on a single scene. Here, Bulger (Depp) is giving advice to his young son, telling him that you can do anything you want as long as no one is around to hear it. Obviously, Lindsey Cyr (Fifty Shades of Grey’s Dakota Johnson) doesn’t think that’s the best advice for a child.
The rest of the trailer highlights Bulger’s crimes and how difficult it is for anyone to catch him. There’s even a scene of an old woman who is happy that he’s back in the old neighborhood.
Black Mass is directed by Scott Cooper, who directed Jeff Bridges to an Oscar in Crazy Heart. Other members of the incredible supporting cast include Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Adam Scott, Kevin Bacon, David Harbour, James Russo and Corey Stoll.
The movie opens on Sept. 18.
