That rumor about a 21 Jump Street and Men In Black crossover is now apparently a reality since Sony now has two writers on board to put together a script that will feature a female-driven cast for a spin off of 'Jump Street' while another script will see the original stars in the MIB universe.
According to The Wrap, the writers for Broad City, Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs have been hired to put together a script that would focus on the female-driven spinoff of the Jump Street universe, which is supposed to echo the comedy that was present in 21 Jump Street and its sequel.
Sony also commissioned a separate script that would have the characters from Jump Street, played by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, crossover with Men In Black.
21 Jump Street was a success for Sony, grossing over $200 million. When 22 Jump Street made its debut, it grossed $331 million globally. The producer for the films, Neal Moritz, and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are also reportedly on board for both films.
As previously reported, the possibility of the crossover between these two films was leaked in the Sony e-mails last year.
Amy Pascal, who was then the head of Sony Pictures, reportedly got an e-mail from Jump Street star Jonah Hill about the prospect of putting the characters of 21 Jump Street in the world of Men In Black.
At the moment, it is not clear if Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones will reprise their roles for this crossover.
