Authorities said that a woman in Allentown, Pennsylvania has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly pushed her 1-year-old son into the Lehigh River.

WFMZ noted that Johnesha Perry was charged with attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

MSN reported that the 19-year-old mother allegedly kissed the boy while he was in his stroller and then rolled him off of the bridge. She herself then jumped off and later told investigators that it was "her time to go."

Officers found the child floating downstream several hundred yards away from the bridge, pulled him from the river and administered CPR. He was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.

"I commend these two officers for actually going into the river and pulling him out and doing CPR. That's what saved this baby's life, in my opinion," said Allentown Police Capt. Bill Reinik.

Perry was found conscious on the riverbank and was also taken to the hospital. Once she is discharged she will be transferred to jail and her bail will be set at $100,000.
