More photos from the set of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight have been shown off, with the cast of the ensemble western getting portraits in Entertainment Weekly. Thanks to the magazine, there are names to match the faces.
EW posted a new portrait gallery, which fills in some information about each character.
Kurt Russell is playing John Ruth, a mustachioed bounty hunter taking his bounty, Daisy Domergue, to Red Rock. Jennifer Jason Leigh is playing Daisy in her Tarantino debut.
Samuel L. Jackson, who has to be involved in nearly every Tarantino project, stars as Major Marquis Warren, a former Union officer who has plenty of dark secrets. (It sounds like every character has his or her own secret.)
Joe Gage is a classical cowboy played by Michael Madsen and is already trapped at Minnie’s Haberdashery when other members of the cast arrive. Tim Roth is the brilliantly named Oswaldo Mobray, the new hangman of Red Rock.
Walton Goggins plays Southerner Chris Mannix, while Bruce Dern is former Confederate General Sanford Smithers. Demian Bichir is Bob “The Mexican,” who is the temporary innkeeper at Minnie’s.
EW’s cover shows Jackson, Leigh and Russell. The Film Stage also has other pictures from the set that are inside the issue.
The Hateful Eight is smaller in scale than Django Unchained, featuring just these characters and a few others trapped at an inn during a snowstorm. It is set a few years after the Civil War and is expected to be released in December. filming is currently underway.
