Before kicking off another tour, the Rolling Stone played a very special surprise show in Los Angeles Wednesday night at the tiny Fonda Theatre. The group played the entirety of their 1971 album Sticky Fingers for the small crowd.
After the show, the band posted a video on their YouTube page, showing people filing into the theater and talking about the excitement of being at the show. The video also includes clips of them singing “Brown Sugar” and “Midnight Mile.”
Rolling Stone notes that the crowd did include some celebrities in the audience, including Jack Nicholson, Eric Idle, Bruce willis, Patricia Arquette and Harry Styles.
By performing the entirety of Sticky Fingers, it was the first time “You Gotta Move” was done on stage in four decades. “Sister Morphine” and “I Got The Blues” had also been rarely performed before last night.
The show also included some familiar hits like “Start Me Up” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” They also performed B.B. King’s “Rock Me Baby.”
The Zip Code Tour is timed for the release of a new deluxe edition of Sticky Fingers that includes alternate takes and live performances.
For those who have forgotten, the full tracklist for Sticky Fingers is:
“Brown Sugar”
“Sway”
“Wild Horses”
“Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”
