Get those wallets ready, Star Wars fans: your first official Force Awakens merchandise is hitting stores in September.
According to Variety, Disney is planning a special event called "Force Friday" on September 4th, where Disney stores will open at 12:01am to launch new Star Wars products. That will include new comics, toys, collectibles and apparel among other things, all tied into the upcoming movie.
In a statement, Josh Silerman, executive vice president of global licensing for Disney, said that every piece of Star Wars merchandise tells a story for generations of fans, and that this event is a collection of those stories.
Disney teased the box of a Kylo Ren toy, though not actually giving us a glimpse inside.
Disney acquired Lucasfilm in a huge $4.05 billion deal back in 2012, so we'll now be seeing Star Wars merchandise in stores along with Elsa dresses and Stitch dolls. The Force Awakens is released in theaters on December 18, but considering the toys and apparel will be sold months in advance, we can expect Disney and Star Wars to absolutely dominate this holiday season. Parents trying to find sold out Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren figures for your kids this Christmas, may the force be with you.
