A teacher at a school in West Melbourne, Florida has pleaded guilty on Wednesday to an inappropriate relationship with a student. Apparently, the student wrote his number on a chalkboard to get dates, but the only call he got was from the teacher.
Irene Khan, 34, pleaded guilty to having sex with the 15-year-old student. According to Space Coast Daily, she was a science teacher at the Imagine School in West Melbourne at the time and was arrested back in June 2012. She was also married at the time, with children.
Investigators told WESH that the student wrote his phone number on the chalkboard, hoping a girl from his class would call.
Instead, Khan responded by calling and texting the student. They would meet to have sex in motel rooms, police said, and the relationship lasted throughout the 2011-2012 school year. She was fired from the school in January 2012, but for inappropriate behavior that included showing off tattoos.
“She got into a sexual relationship with him over several months, and we got information on that, and we brought the victim in and questioned him,” West Melbourne police spokesman Steve Wilkinson told WESH.
In the plea deal, Khan agreed to two years of community control and 10 years on probation, notes Gawker. Khan also can’t wear a Santa suit or other clothing that appeals to children.
