Thousands turned out at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore over the weekend for recording artist Prince’s ‘Rally for Peace.’
People.com noted that during Prince’s performance at the venue Sunday night, he played a few of his hits including “Let’s go Crazy” and debuted a song which he wrote for Charm City.
The song he recorded after the recent riots and protests in the wake of Freddie Gray’s death is simple titled “Baltimore” and it features artist Eryn Allen Kane.
As previously reported, tickets for the event went on sale last week and promoters asked that concertgoers wear all gray “as a symbolic message of our shared humanity and love for one another.”
Last month, Gray suffered a spinal injury while in police custody. He slipped into a coma and later died. Six officers have been charged in his death.
Prince invited the family of Michael Brown, the unarmed teen who was fatally shot in Ferguson, Missouri and the family of Eric Garner, the man who died after being put in a chokehold by police in New York City, to the event.
