Terrorists, assassins and a natural disaster make a killing in this week’s new releases. Cameron Crowe, the writer/director of Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous, takes a much lighter tone in his latest film.

A military contractor, who played a major role in Hawaii’s space program, heads back to the state after years away in Aloha. During his return, he meets up with a past love while romance sparks with someone new. Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Emma Stone, John Krasinski, Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray and Danny McBride star in the romantic comedy. The PG-13 film plays for one hour and forty-five minutes.

A massive earthquake hits California and rumbles through the country in San Andreas. The PG-13 action film follows a separated Los Angeles couple as they race to San Francisco to rescue their daughter. The one hour and fifty-four minute drama stars Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Paul Giamatti and Kylie Minogue.

A woman is mistakenly accused of setting a bomb attack in Survivor. Now on the run from the government and an assassin, she must avoid being captured in order to foil the real terrorists’ plot. Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan, Angela Bassett and Dylan McDermott star in the limited released thriller. The PG-13 action film runs for one hour and thirty-six minutes.

An impressionable woman gets involved in a dangerous and toxic relationship in Heaven Knows What. Her life continues to spiral out of control with her heroin addiction. The one hour and thirty-three minute drama is rated R for drugs, language, violence, sex and nudity. It’s available in limited theaters.

An orphan, who was trained to be an assassin, attempts to live like a normal teen in Barely Lethal. Faking her death to start a new life, she signs up to be an exchange student and learns the difficulties of being a high school student. The PG-13 action comedy stars Hailee Steinfeld, Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Alba. It’s playing in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-six minutes.

A rich, eccentric man heads to the gym in an attempt to find happiness in Results. The gym owner and a personal trainer become deeply entangled into his life. Guy Pearce, Cobie Smulders, Kevin Corrigan, Giovanni Ribisi, Brooklyn Decker and Anthony Michael Hall star in the limited released comedy. The one hour and forty-five minute film is rated R for language, sex and drugs.

Set in New York and New Delhi, the limited released film Unfreedom tells stories of extreme religious beliefs. The characters face terrorism and sexual discrimination. The unrated, one hour and forty-three minute drama is currently banned in India.

Gustave Flaubert's novel Madame Bovary has been reworked into Gemma Bovary. The limited released comedic drama is set in the same place where the novel was written. Despite nearly 100 years since the work was penned, a man realizes that his new neighbor has eerie similarities to the book’s main character. The one hour and thirty-nine minute film is rated R for sex, nudity and language.

A teenage girl with adult responsibilities gets swept up in a relationship with an older boy in I Believe in Unicorns. Their relationship goes sour when his explosive anger gets in the way. The unrated drama is running in limited theaters for one hour and twenty minutes.

A group of teens hang out in an abandoned trailer park in Sunset Edge. As evil tricks are being played on them, they discover there’s another teenage boy in the same park that’s trying to come to terms with a dark past. The unrated, dramatic thriller is running in limited theaters for one hour and twenty-seven minutes.

A number of well-known celebrities starred alongside each other in some of this week’s biggest releases. Next week’s Entourage is filled with celebrity cameos. Melissa McCarthy’s Spy and the horror film Insidious Chapter 3 also make their way into theaters on June 3.
