The two stars of ABC’s The Bachelorette, Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe, are speaking out ahead of Monday’s premiere about claims having them both on the premiere episode is sexist and degrading.

The announcement was made after the finale of the latest Bachelor season, which Nilsson and Bristowe were both contestants on.

Former Bachelor star Sean Lowe and his wife, Catherine Giudici, even called the decision “disgusting.”

But the two who are most affected by the decision simply don’t see it that way. Both Nilsson and Bristowe told E! News they see it as an interesting and fun twist.

The 25 men will vote on the first night to determine which Bachelorette will stay.

“I just thought that they couldn't decide, so there was two,” Nilsson said. “I didn't see it as degrading, I honestly saw it as compliment.”

Bristowe continued, "I wouldn't have done it if I thought it was the most degrading thing in the world. I think with The Bachelor and The Bachelorette world, at what point do you say it's crazy to do that? I think it was just a little twist and turn they decided to do."

They also seem to be pretty good friends, with Bristowe saying having Nilsson there took the “pressure off” on that first night and Nilsson saying it was “nice to have some support.”
