U2’s tour manager of over 30 years, Dennis Sheehan, died at the age of 68 on Tuesday night in West Hollywood after suffering a heart attack.
The band confirmed his death on their website. He had been on tour with the band at the time of his death.
Frontman, Bono, said in a statement of Sheehan, “We've lost a family member, we're still taking it in. He wasn't just a legend in the music business, he was a legend in our band. He is irreplaceable."
In addition to working with U2, Sheehan worked with Led Zeppelin, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Rolling Stone reports he started as U2’s tour manager in 1982 after getting his big break with Led Zeppelin.
Officials confirmed to Variety Sheehan was pronounced dead when he was discovered unconscious around 5:30am on Wednesday at the Marquis Hotel and the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived on the scene.
U2 had just launched their tour at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. hours before his death.
